22. That is in front of the Koelner Dom

It has become one Germany’s trademarks. During World War II, Allied precision bombers were instructed to flatten Köln but spare the cathedral, which they were amazingly able to accomplish.

Unfortunately, all I had was a cheap Sony digital camera, so I couldn’t really capture the grandure before which they were standing. It was cold, but we were spared the usual rain—not a given in the rainy Rheinland.
