Showing Original Post only (View all)Breaking, per the BBC: Trump says Israel and Hamas 'both sign off' on first phase of Gaza peace plan (Hamas confirms) [View all]
https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cx2nzlj2j4ktSummary
US President Donald Trump has announced that "Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan". "This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line", Trump says on Truth Social
Trump is "considering travelling to the Middle East" in the coming days, according to the White House. Mediators from the US, Egypt and Qatar in Sharm El-Sheikh have been attempting to broker an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and a release of Israeli hostages still held by Hamas
The negotiations come two years and two days after Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to the 7 October 2023 attack, in which Hamas-led gunmen killed about 1,200 people and took 251 others as hostages. At least 67,183 have been killed by Israeli military operations in Gaza since then, the Hamas-run health ministry says.
