from South India in my nursing days back in Texas. Occasionally patients would make comments about them. Derogatory religious comments were easy to deflect. I would just tell the person making the comment that the Malayalis had been Christian longer than virtually any Europeans. The original St. Thomas actually died in Kerala 2,000 years ago.
