9. I think we should be demanding that in event of future shutdowns...

Congress is not allowed to leave the Capitol building from 9-5 Monday through Friday. If they refuse to negotiate, they can sit around and brain storm for a solution to their impasse with their colleagues, alphabetize their books, sharpen their pencils, or read the Constitution among other useful tasks. Unlike plenty of federal workers who are forced to continue to report to work, they are being paid. They are not being paid to shut down our government then go on a holiday because they don't like the way an election went or because they don't want to go on the record for keeping the Epstein files sealed. They work for us. We should demand they work as hard as we do. No more free rides.
