Republicans celebrate the Navy's birthday — with photos of Russian ships

Monday marks the 250th birthday of the U.S. Navy and, to commemorate the occasion, some Republican lawmakers and others took to social media to share photos of ships.

Unfortunately, they chose ones from non-U.S. fleets.

Dave Brown, deputy Washington coverage chief at the Wall Street Journal, highlighted multiple organizations and individuals who crafted memes using ships that aren't part of the U.S. force.

Republican Florida state Sen. Jim Boyd cheered the Navy with a photo of a Russian battle cruiser.
