2. Most Lutherans (ELCA) are quite liberal and inclusive.

They do have their lunatic fringes, though - the Missouri Synod is quite conservative, and the Wisconsin Synod is way out there - it makes the Southern Baptists look like a depraved Satanist cult. Remember Minnesota's goofy congresswoman Michelle Bachmann? She was WELS. They don't allow female clergy; they are intensely opposed to everything gay, and they won't even allow non-WELS members to participate in any liturgy, including weddings - you can't even be a bridesmaid unless you belong to that church. Fortunately, there aren't very many of them and most are in the Midwest.
