(17,272 posts)In my red county, Beaver, about 500 or more showed up at the county courthouse. I'm sure this was bigger than the June event. The lawn and public area in front of the courthouse was pretty full. Attendees with signs lined the street in front of the courthouse about 2-3 deep and spilled over onto the next block. Lots of cars passing by honked their horns in support, only saw 3 cultists giving thumbs down or middle finger to us. Crowd chanted "hey, hey, ho, ho, Donald Trump has got to go" off and on. Unlike previous events, there were no jacked up pick up trucks with their maga flags repeatedly circling around the area being trolls. The crowd was mostly Boomers, but there were some young people, couple babies and a few pets. Saw t-rex, unicorn and Pillsbury dough boy inflatable costumes, It was a friendly, but serious, crowd. There were 3-4 speakers including the head of the local young Dems. There were only 2 local police cars, 1 parked at the end of the block in front of the courthouse and 1 parked on a side street abutting the courthouse. They spent a boring couple of hours as all was peaceful.
It's the turnouts in these red areas that should scare Rs. Not only my county, but going north toward Erie, even redder counties had rallies with decent turnouts in places like Hermitage and Grove City.
