I've detected two themes from the right about the No Kings protests online and developed a counter strategy.

12. Hey MAGA, we know he's not a king...try to catch the nuance...ya morooons!

MAGA and repukes like certain talking points they think are gotchas. This whole "he isn't really a king" is just the latest.

One of their all time favorites is the old " America is not actually a democracy, but a republic" trope. They think it shows brilliance when they bring this up.

I like to shut that one down by informing them that North Korea is also a "republic". Then I ask them would you want to live there?
Then I try to explain (without getting too far over their heads) that it is the democracy part of a republic that makes the difference. Healthy democracy means the people have representation and rights. Unhealthy, or no democracy means the possibility of having an authoritarian hellhole.

It doesn't always work, but it's fun to watch the expressions on their faces.
