15. Great Local Solution

Our local Safeway has implemented a deal that I think is genius in its simplicity. They offer four packages of chicken, beef, or pork in any combination for $20. Most are at least one pound, often over. The food is generally within one or two days of its expiration date. I’ve gotten some incredible deals (e.g., one pound of round steak for $5, 4 pork chops for $5). Anything I don’t immediately use I freeze for later. It’s a win-win all around.

BTW, that meal looks absolutely delicious.
