Thinking about the Camp Pendleton Artillery Disaster here... [View all]

CBS News is reporting that artillery crews from Camp Pendleton's 1st Marine Division fired 155mm artillery projectiles over Interstate 5 on Saturday, October 18, 2025. One of them detonated over the freeway and frag from the projectile hit a California Highway Patrol car.

I have one simple question: How big of an absolute fucking idiot do you have to be to fire fuzed high explosive ammunition from a howitzer during an exhibition? Smoke rounds, illumination rounds and practice rounds are a thing, as is charging the gun with powder and no shell so you get that nice loud bang you want but nothing comes out the end. I realize Marines are supposed to be stupid but they really ought not to abuse the privilege.
