Motorist who struck woman at No Kings rally in Stark says he doesn't remember the crash

https://archive.ph/FEiWy

Quoting two separate paragraphs to show how odd his story sounds. Plus, seems odd that the paper would put his defense on record but not his name?

"I don't even remember it happening," he told the Canton Repository in a telephone interview on Oct. 20. "It wasn't anything like on purpose."

"I didn't even see those people. I was just, you know, driving home and that was it," he said.
The driver said police told him no one was seriously injured.
"You can talk to the police," he said. "They gave me a total thumbs-up. They told me not to even worry about it. They said there was nothing really happening. I hope I didn't hurt anybody bad or anything like that."

I guess maybe it makes sense if he "didn't" remember until he talked to the police and the "thumbs up" were meant figuratively. But, probably shouldn't be driving if he doesn't remember leaving the road, driving in the grass, and striking someone.
