Please check with your state unemployment department to see if they offer retraining of any sort. I know in Washington State as you are coming to the end of your benefits they will send to school or a training program and continue paying for benefits while you are in that training if you ask for it. A friend of mine who had a master's degree lost her job working for Oracle and she went to a school for truck drivers and no she didn't become a truck driver, but her unemployment was extend while she was training to be one.
