Ketchup contains both vinegar and tomatoes, two sources of acid. Thus ketchup runs around pH 4.

While EPA pH standards for Hazardous Waste define a cutoff of pH < 2, please be aware that this level was lowered to accommodate the soft drink industry, which produces product at around pH 3. Furthermore, the Ketchup Hazards in the vicinity of the White House may be anticipated to be accompanied by risk of airborne Diet Coke (in cans or otherwise) For these reasons, personnel may wish to consider wearing full body protective gear such as head-to-toe Tyvek suits. At a minimum, safety goggles should be included in the recommendations..
