(28,385 posts)for an EV. And they really are as bad for the environment as all but the worst of gas-guzzler. I have never driven an actual gas guzzler of any kind. Let's see, my cars have been: 1959 VW Bug. It was a convertible. My sons were impressed when they learned Mom's first car was a convertible. Next, a 1969 VW Bug. The car after that was another VW. That was replaced by a Subaru, then another Subaru, and eventually my current Honda Civic. A stick shift.
The main reason I hate renting cars is that every single stupid one is an automatic. I despise automatics. I like being in control of the car I'm driving, hence a stick. I'm pretty sure all EVs are automatics, so, no thank you.
I just went on-line and priced current cars. Dear lord, why would anyone on god's green earth pay a multiple of their yearly income for a car? Or even any more than perhaps 30% of yearly income for a car? And why, after paying off that first one (which you should have paid cash for in the first place) don't you just save that monthly car payment and use the money for the next car? Honestly, why anyone ever has a car payment is beyond me.
