The "God Blessed Us" bullies are certain there's a golden ticket there just for them. The one that allows them to sit with the Prophets and Martyrs on the Right Hand of God. They buy it either with through the amassing of "blessings" or sacrifices made for good deeds. They'll take the easier path, of course.
The Tech Bro types watched all the Dystopian Science Fiction, pretty much all White Male heros, and they thought -"that's us", the scrappy nerds (with easy resources) living in cool noir.
There are no little people in their worlds. Only NPCs.
