it meant the ultra-wealthy had to funnel some of their wealth into programs that helped healthcare, education, and housing. I wouldn't mind seeing less capitalistic advertising encouraging ridiculous consumption. The 1980s were really bad about this. It was the decade of "keeping up with the Joneses," incurring excessive debt, and people rationalizing bad budgeting with, "but I deserve it."
