3. "Farming areas"

"Farming areas" does not mean farmers - farm owners. There aren't enough farmers to swing elections. I am in a heavily agricultural area, traditionally Republican. Trump beat Harris 47,000 to 44,000 in the three counties here. Yet there are only about 300 full time growers in the area. Farm owners vote about the same as owners of every other kind of business. The USDA says there are less than 3 million farmers now nationally, and their definition is very liberal - anyone making at least $1,000 gross per year selling farm products.
