But many adults seem not to know how to talk to a little girl other than to tell her right off the bat she is “cute” or “beautiful.” Girls hear this so much growing up they begin to think their entire self worth is dependent on their looks. I remember being introduced as a child to business associates of my dad and many times they would say “Aren’t you a little beauty” or “She’s gonna break a lot of hearts in a few years”, stuff like that, and it made me feel uncomfortable. Also my dad would want me to come to certain work related events with him so he could “show me off”. Ugh
