In reply to the discussion: Bari Weiss is absolutely despicable [View all]UTUSN
(76,723 posts)36. Yip, that's her! & she's got a statue/bust of herself at "The University of Austin"!
WEISS is Chris LICHT redux - tool of The Power, not speaking truth to it. Her holiday memo to staff:
WEISS is repeating the Chris LICHT fracas at CNN (confusing "freedom of speech with the political right" see quote below) - is holding "town halls" first with Erika KIRK who has nothing unknown or thought provoking to say and next with a static panel of talking heads with an outdated Top-Down authoritarian format seen everywhere on cable forever. The "now" is interactive, equality of the audience with the pretend pundits, and not subservient to official networks, cherrypicking topics and outlets. WEISS is taking the "new" out of the news, besides the worst part of collaborating with the Power, meaning not speaking truth to it.

.... Right now, the majority of Americans say they do not trust the press. It isnt because theyre crazy, Weiss wrote, adding, To win back their trust we have to work hard.
Weiss listed off ways that 60 Minutes coverage can restore that trust. She added, No amount of outrage whether from activist organizations or the White House will derail us. We are not out to score points with one side of the political spectrum or to win followers on social media. We are out to inform the American public and to get the story right.
Restoring the integrity of the news is a difficult task, Weiss wrote. We cant think of a more important one.
Weiss ended the memo, Merry Christmas and thank you, especially to everyone who is working over this holiday. ....

No it's not. Nobody is giving her a medal. She needs to be forced to justify her claims.
