The bullet entered her arm and traveled to her chest cavity, according to the article.

What are the chances of that?

If she was standing sideways to the direction that the bullet came from and her arm was clutched against her side, then it's very likely the bullet would pass through the arm and enter her chest cavity from the side. If it was her left side, the distance to the heart would be very short.

Tragic stupidity: the moron who shot her should be locked up.
