6. Are you old enough to remember "Radio Free Europe"?

After WWII and through the 1950's into the 60's the Allies used to broadcast news by radio to the communist countries in eastern Europe. Of course the Soviets hated it but they had no way to shut it down. We would give them the real news of the non-communist world, along with American music and music from western Europe. Americans actually donated to keep this going, and it was a wonderful thing knowing that people who were trapped behind the Iron Curtain could receive these programs.

This BBC broadcast that you've described reminds me of "Radio Free Europe" ... except it's aimed at us!!!
