Leavitt is a true believer.
Belief discards reasoning. It has its own logic. She does not see the things she says and does as wrong morally because it is precisely her morality that allows her to say them with not merely no shame but with pride.
It will take a catastrophic internal earthquake to her belief structure to change it. Perhaps her daughter learning something which her mother did not know she had learned and which then exposed her mothers actions. We likely will not see that in the next 3 years but I would be unsurprised if we did see it in the future.
