(96,793 posts)Rachel Maddow was covering this story for awhile but then seemed to lose interest.
Kris and her husband are friends of mine. This battle has gone on for nearly 10 years and the details are horrific. Their house was invaded by state officials in the middle of the night looking for medical records that weren't there, and when they finally got the records, they eventually ended up in Bill O'Reilly's possession.
The state spent close to $500K to revoke Kris's medical license and are now trying to charge her for their expenses. The 'expert' witness who testified against her was housed at the most expensive hotel in the city and her expense list would be comical in any other situation. Plus, this 'expert' really isn't an expert at all, but an anti-choice activist who earns a living by pretending to know what she is talking about.
And the complaint that led to the license revocation was filed by a felon who served time in federal prison for attempting to blow up a clinic. She's close to Scott Roeder, who murdered Dr. Tiller.
Several of the members of the state board of healing arts recused themselves from the license revocation process, so it ended up that the decision to revoke her license wasn't even made by doctors.
This has been just an evil witch hunt by people who believe 10 year olds should be forced to give birth.
