Since Trump took office this time. There have been world events and weather events that usually would have made the fuel prices fluctuate upwards by $1 or $2 dollars.
When they went to his house in Florida when he was running for office he offered them whatever they wanted in exchange for $1 Billion to aid his campaign. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/09/trump-asks-oil-executives-campaign-finance-00157131
My theory is that some kind of deal was struck for the oil companies to keep prices low to aid his agenda, and we don't know about the off-shore accounts that trump has for all his bribes.

Bill to pay now is $56.00. Buying new windows in 2025 made a big improvement in power use

Our electric bill was $80 more than it was at the same time last year with similar usage. It's nuts.
