1. JD Vance Says ICE Agent Has 'Absolute Immunity' After Minneapolis Shooting

Vice President JD Vance defended the ICE agent who fatally shot a woman Wednesday in Minneapolis, saying Jonathan Ross, the officer involved on the incident, has “absolute immunity” and was “doing his job.”

During a Thursday afternoon press conference at the White House, Vance blasted Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and “radicals” for trying to “make this guy’s life miserable because he was doing the job that he was asked to do,” calling it “preposterous.”'

In response to a question about Minnesota being "cut off" from the federal investigation into the shooting, Vance said: "The precedent here is very simple. You have a federal law enforcement official engaging in federal law enforcement action. That's a federal issue. That guy is protected by absolute immunity. He was doing his job," he told reporters. "The idea that Tim Walz and a bunch of radicals are going to go after and make this guy's life miserable because he was doing the job that he was asked to do is preposterous."

The fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother, has drawn more scrutiny toward the ICE and the Trump administration's tactics in their pursuit of mass deportations. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has alleged that Good sought to weaponize her vehicle against Ross and that he feared for his life.
