I have to consider that Christ's example has been mythologized, if that's a word, and twisted/distorted for political gain. I mean, does the core message and example of a real person survive to this day?

The cynic in me realizes that any good from Christ exists as a result of our common human condition and our centering of the well being of our neighbors. That predates Christ. His example is one of many. His dominates due to the spread of empire, evangelism, and the eradication of other cultures and their spiritual domains.

We return to our own humanity. There we will find the second coming. Not in the fall of Israel, not in the murder of heathens and heritecs. But in ourselves.
