(23,391 posts)Homan's comment is sick. "There will be more bloodshed unless we decrease the hateful rhetoric." Well guess what, the hateful rhetoric is unlikely to decrease -- especially since the President of the United States is one of the prime instigators of the hateful rhetoric -- so Homan's comment might as well just end at "There will be more bloodshed."
That's a cabinet secretary informing Americans that there will be more bloodshed. So what is the federal government's plan to decrease the hateful rhetoric?
Just last week an ICE agent shot dead a U.S citizen and mother of three in the street, and called the victim a "fucking bitch." Then the head of DHS called her a "domestic terrorist." Then the President of the United States called her a "paid agitator." Then the Vice President of the United States called her a "deranged leftist." All without knowing anything whatsoever about this woman. They spat on her dead body -- and likely put her family in danger.
So when is the hateful rhetoric going to decrease? It's not! Which means that according to the director of ICE Tom Homan, "There will be more bloodshed."
He's not talking about the President doing anything to decrease the hateful rhetoric, or the Vice President, or anyone in any position of power in the Trump Administration. He's telling regular Americans -- who have the First Amendment right to freely express their opinion about their own government -- that THEY need to decrease the hateful rhetoric.
It used to be the government's job to recognize that when the public is on edge, the government should use their power to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations. Not anymore. Now the government's job is to inflame dangerous situations for clicks and likes.
The bottom line is that Homan is saying that if you protest in a way the government doesn't like, then you can expect to be killed or injured by representatives of the government, and we should all just accept that as the new normal.
This really is sick stuff.
