"Oh no, they're not supporting who I like. So let's dogpile them on social media as viciously as possible!"

That mess. And it has been U-G-L-Y.

The ostensible supporters have been dropping the f-word at them, going after Yang for being Asian, and leaving homophobic remarks left, right, and center. And they have been doing so under the guise that their politics somehow make them Morally Unassailable. You can be as sexist, racist, and homophobic as you want, as long as you're supporting the Correct Cause.

I do not forget when people come for my fellow LGBTers like that. Ever.

And it's this kind of thing that promotes division, that weakens us, and that plays games of social media virtue signalling at the expense of, you know, actually winning elections.

They said they thought the Crockett campaign was a waste of money. So have people on DU. So have a hell of a lot of Dem analysts. It is not even a slightly controversial take. But to respond to that by calling two progressive gay men racists and fling racism and homophobia around so casually and hatefully?

Yeah, getting them to clarify their words wasn't the win the social media crazies wanted. It was a racist, homophobic mob thinking they could get them to kneel.

Good for them that they didn't.
