(35,696 posts)but thankfully they are not really half the country, maybe a quarter to a third at most. That is tied up with the churches, they've been convinced that the orange one has been sent to save them (yes, they are crazy, but I digress). Reaching moderates is a lot more likely to be fruitful, which is why I'm supporting James Talarico here in TX.
Impeach him? Of course. But we do not have the majority. If we can actually have an election and get enough seats then we can move (and I expect the party to be ready). The job now, on the ground, is to try to keep them from stealing the midterms.
My point is that we can't count on a weakened party to save us. It's going to take all of us in the streets. And we've already moved beyond "peaceful". One thing I do think we can do is support Indy media - folks like Meidas Touch & Aaron Parness are breaking through and reaching millions. Countering the regime's propaganda is a big job, but it's something we don't have to rely on the party to try to do. We can each do that with paid subscriptions (if able) and sharing the free posts so they get widespread visibility. I've read that the Black Panthers are active in Philly right now, and we need that energy across the country.
So, I guess I do agree that it's 2-pronged (at least - there are probably more prongs):
1. What we'd like the party to do when they have a majority again
2. What we can do on the ground to affect national opinions, influence conversations, and ensure that elections actually happen (ie organize - do what we can where we can - Indivisible, Black Panthers, etc
ps - and I did want to thank you for taking the question seriously - this is just a starting point - we need to mobilize
