Many years ago, back in the late 1960s, I had the unusual opportunity to watch Soviet TV when it pleased me to do so. My favorite programming included Soccer matches between teams from various factories. My all time favorite, though, was the morning calisthenics program. Lyudmilla, the very athletic middle-aged woman who was on the program put viewers through a vigorous exercise routine, counting time in a harsh Slavic voice. "Raz! Dva! Tri! Chetiri!" "Paz! Два! Три! Четыре!

The State wanted you to be fit, apparently.

and then, I was transferred to a different USAF base where I could not watch Soviet television. I also never saw a Swan Lake broadcast.
