16. She may be gambling that he might be more likely to support her goals in Venezuela

I doubt he would any more than a bully might help the kid who gives him his lunch money. Not to mention, he has said he is taking their oil. Although he did suggest it would help Venezuela, there is a long history of exploitation where the county being exploited mostly gets the ecological damage while the exploiters get the lion's share of the money.

She has said the current situation is no better than with Maduro. Trump on the other hand has praised the interim leader. Worst still he thinks it is HIS decision and the metric of how good she is is does she do what he wants.

She may feel that had she said no, she would definitely have no influence. The fact also remains that the honor and the reward is hers. Trump looks pathetic.
