I've long said racist bigots loathe white people, especially women, who aren't racist bigots more than they loathe the non-white people themselves.

Same mindset applies to a certain group on the left who loathe liberals/democrats more than they loathe right-wingers. If you're at face value, so to speak, on the same "side" and you reject their beliefs, they hate you more than anything and they become unhinged about it.
