...there haven't been a bunch of performative pronouncements from either party's leadership, and no major leaks. In the past, I would have taken this kind of quiet as an indication there would be some serious compromises coming from both sides, but I find it hard to be optimistic. There should be no way Democrats agree to give ICE the funding they've asked for without serious changes being made to how they operate. Public opinion has been strongly on the side of Democrats for months. This is their last big chance to use it to their advantage before the midterms.
