7. "Supposed To Send" Is A Bit Strong

They can be sent anytime after the first business day in January but the "supposed to" is by January 31.
They're supposed to be sent so they are delivered by that date, but a payor could sent them out on the 29th with a reasonable expectation that will get there by the 31st. But, that clearly isn't guaranteed.
So, it would not be unlikely to get 1099 & W-2 forms in early February.
Because I sub in so many schools I get W-2s filtering in between about now and the 3rd of 4th of February.
That's why I never even get things organized for tax preparation until around the 5th.
The 1099s for my IRA, our SS, my wife's small pension all come in earlier but usually not much before right now.
I would be shocked if all my documents were already received.
