(10,430 posts)I am just over a decade younger than you, and I have watched as stupid people have destroyed pretty much everything because they cannot stop being stupid for my entire life. It started locally, but as I travelled I saw it everywhere les as well. Plus, a number of them do not want to stop being stupid. What shocked me was that people generally don't seem willing to act to stop the tidal wave of stupid from rolling down the street.
I think the issue is that we keep wanting to act like these toddlers can be reasoned with. When a toddler is about to knock over an expensive vase, you don't start telling them that maybe they need to try and find other, more constructive things to do with their time and that they should consider the others in the room and blah blah. You grab the toddler and stop them from knocking over the vase.
We need to do more of that, I feel.
