I have spent some time in Canada and have several Canadian friends. They have often messaged me these last 9 years about Trump expressing their concern and looking for me to ease it. My response has been the same, "You absolutely should be worried about trump, he absolutely is a threat to your country's independence and the Canadian way of life." Often they poo pooed me at the start, but slowly they have grown more alarmed. Now it's full panic, "Is this for real John? Should we be afraid?"

Yes, Trump doesn't view Canada any differently than he views Yemen, Iran, or Venezuela. If he thinks he can get away with something that will enrich him or help him in some other way, he's going to do it. So in short, Canada needs to build their military up so that military action can be responded to severely, that's the only thing Trump understands, force.
