The incredible cowardice of our elites-- this is just so maddening [View all]

Trump is a megalomaniacal, criminal madman, he is the singular force that is destroying the entire world order and the whole American system, and rather than acknowledging him as a crisis, our institutions are still, STILL determined to relentlessly normalize him

The president is a mad king threatening war against America’s closest allies because he’s got a psychological fixation on an empty frozen island and a Nobel Peace Prize snub and the best the media or opposition can manage is “Trump changes America’s priorities, perhaps for the worse”

Will Stancil (@whstancil.bsky.social) 2026-01-20T14:07:13.964Z

He could build himself a golden monument on the White House lawn and it would be described as “an unusual project that belies his focus on affordability.” He could institute a military blockade of my city and it would be described as “a hard-edged approach to immigration policy.”

Our worthless class of elites is responsible for Trump, not because they agree with him but because their affectation of seriousness has suffocated them and made it impossible to leverage their resources and platforms to stop or slow him. They’d have to break the pose, and REACT, and they will not.

I cannot express how it makes me feel to see my Minneapolis neighbors living every day in the line of fire, risking injury, imprisonment, and death at the hands of a tyrant, while these soft, empty suits prance around at Davos and hope that if they pretend hard enough he’ll go away.

All the way back to 2015, it’s the pretending that is killing us. We have the strength to stop this weak man and his deranged plans, but we won’t, because it would require us to drop all our self-praising little fictions about being masters of restraint and subtlety, and actually strike back.
