9/11 gave Bush an easy way to take the minds of the people away from the fact that we all thought he was an illegitimate president. Unless Trump can manage a false flag operation on our soil that kills people here in America, there will be no distracting bloodlust cry for revenge from the Right and definitely we won't see the bullying that the rest of us saw when we tried to point out that we were attacking the wrong country.
Even though Cheney was trying to prepare Americans for a long-term presence in the Middle East, it all fizzled out when red America saw their children come home in body bags. They were always the ones that gave Bush II the steam to take a wayward course. And when their steam dissipated, Bush was done. Not even the right-wing church leaders were supporting him anymore. It's not hard to see why. They came out and said that Bush claimed it would be a Shock and Awe and it would be over. Then suddenly, these church leaders were holding funerals and had to explain to their parishioners what went wrong.
So, Trump's grasp on the Congress is a tenuous one. Frankly, even the Republicans know it's a matter of the right moment for him to go too far. And by everyone's estimation, we are almost there.
