(93,490 posts)...and the other, our Democratic party, outperforms even itself when in the majority.
This drivel supposes that THEY (the drivelers) need convincing which party to support.
Or, even stupider, that the people supporting Trump give a shit what either leader says.
Who needs convincing that Trump is out of control? Who needs the leaders to perform for them?
The function that the Democrats in their respective bodies voted to two leaders to perform is to organize THEIR votes, so pretending that these Dem leaders are some kind of autocrats is a misunderstanding of their role.
I mean, who wants the Senator or rep they sent to Congress to be dictated down to by anyone? That's not how elections work and that's not the expection they bring into their elected office. These leaders represent their membership, period. Not the other way around.
Any gripe someone has with their messaging is a diversion from the people they represent in what they convey to the press and the public.
Moreover, this campaigining against the Democratic leadership is pretending like their removal from the leadership is a function of voters; trying to actually unseat members who vote and represent the issues and the Democratic agenda as effectively as anyone in their respective states and districts.
Indeed, the two Dem leaders we have in Congress are as progressive or more progressive than the membership as a whole; the people who put them in the leadership. What critics expect to change about the collective votes of the membership, by changing the leader THEY elect, is baffling to me.
This navelgazing is conterproductive, misinforming, and just a waste of political energy that is better spent focusing on the people we elected who actually disagree with their critics.
The falderal from this fellow about some, "chasm of conviction between progressive policies and Democratic party leaders..."
Where do they disagree? The latest canard about their views on ICE was a false and suspiciously misleading one that supposes their personal views expressed to the public and press are more important than the consensus they arrive at among the people they are charged to represent in their respective houses of Congress.
Moreover, these performative expectations are coming from people who don't have one speck of responsibility, and express ZERO concern or responsibility for the ultimate lever of control and messaging which is OUR votes in the upcoming election to ensure a Democratic majority.
That's something that many Democratic voters and many others professing concern about the fascists in power in the republican party FAILED to effect in the last election. pretending like that's up to Jeffries and Schumer; or pretending like something short of electing a majority of Democrats is a solution in another round of delusion and sophistry about them saying just the right thing to convince THEM to go to the polls.
The people we need scolding are the ones who were sanguine or acted butt-hurt in the last election; easily misled by the shit-talking against Biden or Harris about the economy Trump cratered before they arrived; or blaming Democrats for the supply chains that Trump let collapse during his pandemic; or for whatever some working class voter thought they needed to hear from the only sane people in the race; whatever fuck-all reason they sat out and didn't vote for the Democrarts running; none of that is the responsibility of the Democratic leadership.
More like some like of mental illness on the part of those voters, and they either need to seek professional help for that, or get up off of their ass and support Democrats.
TWO parties; one of them is trying to either own you or kill you. OUR CHOICE.
