Trump used part of his rambling Davos speech to confront Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney over a speech the latter made Tuesday at the World Economic Forum.

Carney delivered a thoughtful monologue on his nation’s place among all the world’s powers, suggesting that “middle powers” like Canada link arms with other nations on various fronts for mutual gain.

“We’re building the Golden Dome, that’s going to — just by its very nature — going to be defending Canada. Canada gets a lot of freebies from us,” Trump said Wednesday. “They should be grateful also, but they’re not.”

“I watched your prime minister yesterday — he wasn’t so grateful,” he added of Carney. “They should be grateful to us, Canada. Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements.”
