Florida Moms for Liberty chapter that started national movement ends [View all]

(It's just the original chapter that disbanded. The national organization continues and the founder is starting up a new organization)

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Moms for Liberty chapter that started a national movement helping ban books and eliminate school mask mandates has temporarily gone dark.

Jennifer Pippin, who was active in the organization since the Indian River County chapter's inception in 2021, resigned from the position earlier this month, saying she disagreed with the national organization's increased emphasis on federal issues.

"We wanted to be more grassroots and local," Pippin said in a text message. "It was getting to be too much at the White House."

Since leaving Moms for Liberty, Pippin has launched a new group, "Family First — Indian River County," with other former Moms for Liberty members, and is the group's chair.

"I was advocating for parents and children long before Moms for Liberty existed, and I will continue to do so moving forward," Pippin said in her resignation letter. "The work does not stop because you no longer check a box for one organization."
