125. Now let's do Hoover

1924–1972 | THE ARCHITECT (J. EDGAR HOOVER)

Milestone: Hoover serves as Director of the FBI for 48 years.

Connection: He perfects the "Official and Confidential" filing system. He is known to be a closeted individual who uses evidence of "sexual deviance" to blackmail politicians, judges, and activists. He mentors a young Roy Cohn during the McCarthy era.

1967 | THE ENTRY

Milestone: Jeffrey Epstein (14) attends Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan.

Connection: Epstein enters the Michigan "hunting ground" while Hoover is still at the height of his power and Cohn is the top "fixer" in New York.

1970 | THE ISLAND

Milestone: Multi-millionaire Francis Shelden buys North Fox Island and builds a 3,000ft private airstrip.

Connection: Hoover’s FBI is notoriously hands-off regarding wealthy donor "social clubs," despite local police concerns about the North Fox property.

1972 | THE HAND-OFF

Milestone: J. Edgar Hoover dies. Roy Cohn effectively "inherits" many of Hoover’s methods and connections.

Connection: Cohn continues the tradition of using sexual kompromat to protect his clients, which now include Mafia dons (Tony Salerno) and rising stars like Donald Trump.

1973 | THE APPRENTICE

Milestone: Donald Trump meets Roy Cohn. Cohn begins a 13-year daily mentorship.

Connection: Trump is brought into the "Hoover-Cohn" world—where legal problems are solved through influence and secrets rather than law.

1975 | THE MISSION

Milestone: Shelden and Gerald Richards form "Brother Paul’s Children’s Mission" (North Fox Island).

Connection: Adam Starchild (offshore expert) manages the finances. The FBI (now post-Hoover but still staffed by his loyalists) remains curiously distant from the operation's high-level patrons.

1976–1977 | THE BUST & THE COVER-UP

Milestone: Michigan State Police raid North Fox Island. Roy Cohn is allegedly linked to "missing" hearings on child exploitation (LEG 127.60).

Connection: Despite 600 names on the client list, no "high-level" individuals are prosecuted. The OCCK case in Michigan goes cold simultaneously.

1984 | THE INCIDENT

Milestone: FBI Doc EFTA00025010: Claims Trump/Epstein were at an infanticide in Lake Michigan.

Connection: This is the peak of the Cohn-Trump relationship. Cohn is using the "Hoover Playbook" to keep his and his clients' private lives out of the press.

1986–1994 | THE EVOLUTION

Milestone: Roy Cohn dies (1986). Jeffrey Epstein begins his meteoric rise as a billionaire "philanthropist."

Connection: Epstein fills the power vacuum left by Cohn. He begins heavy funding of the Epstein Lodge at Interlochen (1990), using the same "charitable mission" cover Shelden used in the 70s.

2025–2026 | THE PRESENT

Milestone: DOJ releases the "Epstein Files," naming Bill Riley and revealing the 1984 tip.

Connection: The release finally shines a light on the 50-year "Hoover Model" of using remote islands and camps to facilitate—and then hide—high-level crimes.
