(60,826 posts)back in Trump's first term. That culminated in a report that disputed the claims. In addition, in his first term a special prosecutor was also charged with investigating it. This led to some minor charges for some career (is not political) people and not finding anything from the Obama administration.
I remember there was a comprehensive article on how the Obama administration dealt with allegations from Steele. Every organization that received information understood both the risk to America if true AND the need to have this dealt with by the non political people in intelligence organizations. Concerned by Russia possibly being involved, Obama wanted a joint statement on the risk with Majority Leader McConnell who refused to do so.
Given everything KNOWN TO BE FACT, the Obama administration, understated what they were concerned Russia was doing and was careful not to accuse Trump of collusion before the election. Remember we have still not seen the full Mueller report. Mueller did get convictions of some Trump people for working with Russia. I would imagine Trump has far more to lose with discovery
Compare the care Obama took not to misuse the government for partisan reasons ... Something Trump does every day.
