IN-01: Indiana House GOP candidate withdraws from race, citing state's failure to redistrict [View all]
An Indiana Republican running for a competitive House seat announced Thursday that she would be withdrawing from the race, citing the competitive nature of the district and the states failure to redistrict ahead of November.
Indianas legislature sadly chose not to redistrict Indiana congressional map to counter Democrats egregious gerrymandering and their counting of illegal immigrants in the census, former Indiana Public Safety Secretary Jennifer-Ruth Green said in a statement one day before the states filing deadline.
IN-01 remains an extremely difficult seat for a Republican to compete in and win. With your help, we ran a strong race in 2022 and put this district on the map, she continued. Having been through it once, I understand the harsh reality: to win this seat, there is no margin for error.
Indianas 1st Congressional District, represented by Rep. Frank Mrvan (D-Ind.), is seen as a top pickup opportunity for Republicans, as it went evenly for both President Trump and former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, according to The Downballot.
