However, I really believe that it has gone beyond political parties. Fascism has taken over America. It was finalized when "our" SCOTUS, packed with elite "conservatives", legalized the purchasing of politicians and therefore our government.
Since these leeches have gotten the taste of complete, legal control of our nation. They will not give it up without a fight.
Whether that fight is able to be won politically or not, remains to be seen. Eventually, enough Americans will realize the truth and rise up in some fashion. I was hoping OWS was that awakening and possibly it may turn out to be.
It will take the majority Americans, with eyes wide open to the reality that this fascism has many enablers. Strongest among them is our media. They will need to actually depend on non-traditional news sources for true news. I hope Amy Goodman, Democracy Now and other real journalists survive this fascism, both physically and ideologically, and that Americans realize that the distractions and government stenography that the MSM present as facts and diversions are that, diversions.
It would be great if the Democratic party would fore-go corporatism and lead, honestly. I don't see that happening.
IMO, if America is rid of fascism, it will necessarily be a third party leading the way.
We have been approaching this moment in our history for quite a few decades (at least) and unfortunately most of our politicians have become complicit. Some knowingly, some not.
WE have allowed THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE to be eviscerated, so our once independent MSM no longer exists. GLASS-STEAGAL, gone so there are no real protections for consumers. We have idly allowed these Democratically implemented protections to be swept away and replaced with FREE TRADE and ultimately, CITIZENS UNITED.
The protections that we used to have were not easily won. Getting them back will be even harder.
