My mother passed in 2011 and she enjoyed life up to the last day -- I treasure every moment that I spent with her - especially that year that I had to have a Caregiver for her.
About 2 weeks before she passed, she told me that she was tired and she didn't want to get out of bed. I tried to encourage her yet when I called her doctor he told me to let her stay in bed .
At first, I didn't understand but a few days later he told me that he was going to have Hospice come to talk with me about the ways that they could help me.
I thought HOSPICE meant that the person was going to die immediately -- I cried but said "OK."
I say all this to let others know that was one of the best CALLS I have ever made.
She loved listening to her favorite songs from my Ipod for about 1 week and having close friends come to see her.
Hospice was able to help me in so many ways.
She passed peacefully in her bed -- with me, standing beside the bed, cradleing her in my arms.
Just like she had held me when I was a Baby.
I value the memories.
I treasure the photographs and the video that was taken when a dear friend came to sing to her.
