2. If this is referencing the NPR article, it's hard to see encouraged tribal members besides Hoskin.

I’m not Cherokee either, so know nothing of Hoskin, but it seems the only other interviewed person in the excerpt is Angelique Eaglewoman who merely expressed disappointment with how unsupportive Noem was. This obviously is an understatement as Noem has a history of hostilities with SD tribes. If by encouraged, NPR means at least he’s not Noem, then yes. Tribes and their members views vary, but Markwayne is either unknown or unliked by many tribal members in the northwest. To make claims about the 574 federally recognized native entities by referencing a Chief from the same tribe who networks with Markwayne is somewhat disingenuous. That is not to say he doesn’t have his supporters, but I hope the MSM doesn’t oversell his tribal support.
