1. Why is the Standard Deduction the same for the whole country?

Only income above $15,750 ($17,750 for seniors) is taxed. But if your rent in San Francisco is 36000/year (and that’s VERY low for SF) it’s ridiculous to be paying taxes on such a low salary.
Make the average (or median, I’m not picky) annual rent and groceries for the region the standard deduction.
People should be able to afford their lives.
