In 2000 the USS Cole, an Arleigh Burke class destroyer, was almost sunk in the Gulf of Aden by al-Qaeda terrorists in a small boat laden with explosives. The SoH would become a shooting gallery for the IRGC's drones. There is just not enough maneuvering room through the Strait. The admirals are not that stupid. The president may be but not them.
