19. CAAF-Nashville-CAAF is a common training route for 101st pilots

CAAF: Campbell Army Airfield. There are two airfields on Campbell: Campbell Army Airfield, which is used by most of the aviation units on post and is also where they fly cargo jets into, and Saber Army Heliport, which is pretty much for the exclusive use of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

It's about 60 air miles from Fort Campbell to Nashville and Nashville is congested airspace (compared to the airspace around Clarksville, anyway) so if the order of the day Is to fly for one hour, they will often fly over Nashville, keep going until the hour meter hits 30 minutes then fly back. The alternative is to go to the 101st's Synthetic Flight Training Facility and fly an Apache simulator, which isn't the same.

What is NOT common is hovering over anyone's home. They get more than a little upset if you do that.
